It has been killing me to keep this under wraps, but that's right: Kingpinz Skateshop, Deluxe Distribution, Bones, Nixon Watches and my SK808 benefactor(s) are hosting a fantastically planned event with the City of Houston. This week I rounded up the Kingpinz posse, and we booked it up to Keystone to test out all the new 2010 snowboards that will be coming out next season. Kingpinz is the only shop in Houston where you can get first hand knowledge of how a board performs on the snow in all conditions. There is lots of new tech coming down the pipe for next season. Developed primarily in the private park at the DC MTN. LAB by Devun Walsh and Iikka Backstom. The MTN LAB Freestyle is our high end true twin tip ideal for park and backcountry riding. For the MLF, we've brought back Radius to Flat technology. The unique tip and tail profile, previously forgotten until the WI09 DC snowboard line, will float you through the powder and help you stomp those landings.
A true twin tip, the MLF has DC's Aeron core. This core is comprised of two types of wood, poplar and obeche, vertically laminated then finished super thin in the tip and tail for pop, power, and a low swing weight. There are strips of Kevlar and Carbon running along the MLF's effective edges, adding pop, responsiveness, and vibration absorption. The MLF features Bi-Ax laminate, a strong fiberglass that's very durable and that absorbs unwanted chatter. Finally, it has our 4400 sintered base, making it fast and easy to service.
